AFP Fonts

This is the proprietary font format that is still used globally in AFP workflows.

AFP fonts are supplied in either:

Bitmap (240 or 300 dpi) - File names are:
C0 - Character Set - contains glyphs
X0 - Coded Font - links a Character Set and Code Page
T1 - Code Page - Contains EBCDIC code points telling the printer/document software what hex position the glyph should correlate to.

or

AFP Outline (essentially a PostScript font with an AFP wrapper). File names are:
CZ - Character Set
XZ - Coded Font
T1 - Code Page -

or

CID-Keyed (used to handle complex double-byte languages).

AFP fonts can be supplied for standard typographic characters, icons for billing applications, logos (using pre-defined keystrokes), and digital signatures.
